We now have 200 signatures on our petition for a Georgette Heyer film. Yay!!!!!! (and thanks to all who have signed it!!!!)
Signature #199, (Dr. Sally Houghton, the Genius behind THE Georgette Heyer website) suggested that we vote for which books we would like to have made into films first. Great idea Sally! There are a few wonderful threads on Goodreads debating this very topic so I have made a list of almost all of the suggestions so that we can have a vote. And if you haven't read any Georgette Heyer yet, you may get some idea of which one to try first when this poll gets going!
So if you would like to discuss this further, or have ideas for casting (and I know you do!) please leave a comment below and keep the conversation going.

ReplyDeleteSince EVERY Heyer title is still in print, you should request that your library get the others! I can almost guarantee they will never be idle. Heyer is always extremely popular at libraries.
ReplyDeleteOh my too tough to choose! But after some thought I chose Talisman Ring because it is a rousing adventure as much as a romance.
ReplyDeletea very cool idea. in addition to the thought of casts, writers/directors would be just as important i think (maybe more so?) it would be such a shame to have a favourite story fall short of expectations.
ReplyDeleteAs far as I know two Georgette Heyer books have already been made into films. One is the Reluctant Widow (in English) and the other Arabella (made in French).

ReplyDeleteHello all! Thanks so much for voting and commenting. If you have stumbled across this well after the fact, keep voting! I am checking back occasionally to see what the consensus is. I just finished Arabella and I now think that would be perfect as a film. However, so many are great film scripts of the future.

ReplyDeleteSorry Abigail, I thought I had all of her Regency Romance novels down there. Consider it now one vote for The Masqueraders and now you make me want to read that one too. I have been working my way through her novels gradually this fall and there are quite a few that would make good films. I will check out TM next, on your wonderful recommendation. Fingers crossed that we get a film at some point!

Hi Gardenia. Glad to hear from another Georgette Heyer fan. Let's hope some astute film maker (female?) figures out that there is a huge audience out there for an adaptation.

When I get a cold, and have to stay home from work, nothing blunts the misery quite so well as a regency romance from Heyer. It's a small, but very prized part of my reading. She actually turned-around my beliefs about reading romance novels, which until then had been based on a small sample of very bad, very inexpensive novels from a neighbor.

Howdy from Houston where I have ALL of Heyer's Regency Romances on my bookshelf AND have just discovered that the Ebook versions are available from our public library to read on my Android. Life is GOOD! Read Heyer in my 20s and rediscovered her--four decades later--in a coffee shop in Phuket, Thailand and recommenced with Lady of Quality. Heyer is the Queen of Regency Romance. Long (and far) may she reign!
