I loved wearing my ball gown and seeing 'Top Hat' on stage, it was fantasic! I would love to see it again but it's fully booked and only on until the 10th December. We booked our tickets in June.

I love all the Fred and Ginger musicals and the era. That is close to you isn't it? I had to go back 200 years, but still...

Glad you had a great time. I bet you looked lovely. I did the math and Ginger Rogers would have been 68 when I saw her at Radio City Music Hall in 1979. Oh, that does make me sound old! She was still dancing pretty well for a 68 year old!Jenny Allworthyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08518779478842699970noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8833418224175267236.post-8881751743017001582011-12-02T12:52:06.138-05:002011-12-02T12:52:06.138-05:00@Jenny - Top Hat was brilliant last night at the L...@Jenny - Top Hat was brilliant last night at the Leeds Grand Theatre! Tom Chambers and Summer Strallen were fantastic as Jerry Travers and Dale Tremont! The rest of the cast were great too. They sang some of Irving Berlin’s greatest hits, such as, 'Cheek to Cheek' and 'Top Hat', 'White Tie and Tails', 'The Piccolino', 'No Strings' (I'm Fancy Free) and 'Isn't This A Lovely Day To Be Caught In The Rain?' which are all in the film Top Hat. They also sang 'Let’s Face the Music and Dance' and 'I'm Putting All My Eggs In One Basket' which are from the film 'Follow The Fleet.'

The costumes, sets and dance routines were all wonderful and I loved every minute of it! I want to see it all over again! I had a lovely time and I felt very special in my ball gown! I didn't wear a tiara but I did have my hair up.

How wonderful to have seen Ginger Rogers! She was fantastic at dancing! I think she was 83 when she died, although I'm not sure.

No, you didn't tell me your great-grandmother was born in Leeds. I felt a little sad thinking of my Grandma (my Mum's Mum) last night as she would have loved to have seen Top Hat on stage. She loved all the old films that I love.

Kate, from Guiseley, Leeds. xxKatenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8833418224175267236.post-86529929585356714772011-12-01T22:02:29.607-05:002011-12-01T22:02:29.607-05:00I hope you had fun Kate. As you know I love the film Top Hat! so on Thursday 1st December 2011 I am going to the Leeds Grand Theatre with my Mum to see Tom Chambers and Summer Strallen star in Irving Berlin's Top Hat which is based on RKO's Motion Picture. It is Fred and Ginger's greatest Hollywood dance musical - live on stage for the very first time in 76 years!

It is also Black Tie and Tiara Night for one night only on the 1st December so I can wear my ball gown!

This is one of my favourite musicals so I can't wait to see it live on stage!

Kate from Leeds. xxKatenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8833418224175267236.post-30884969810863042992011-11-29T19:11:46.398-05:002011-11-29T19:11:46.398-05:00Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House! I love that ...Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House! I love that one! The scene where she is picking the paint colours is pure genius.

Muriel Blandings: I want it to be a soft green, not as blue-green as a robin's egg, but not as yellow-green as daffodil buds. Now, the only sample I could get is a little too yellow, but don't let whoever does it go to the other extreme and get it too blue. It should just be a sort of grayish-yellow-green. Now, the dining room. I'd like yellow. Not just yellow; a very gay yellow. Something bright and sunshine-y. I tell you, Mr. PeDelford, if you'll send one of your men to the grocer for a pound of their best butter, and match that exactly, you can't go wrong! Now, this is the paper we're going to use in the hall. It's flowered, but I don't want the ceiling to match any of the colors of the flowers. There's some little dots in the background, and it's these dots I want you to match. Not the little greenish dot near the hollyhock leaf, but the little bluish dot between the rosebud and the delphinium blossom. Is that clear? Now the kitchen is to be white. Not a cold, antiseptic hospital white. A little warmer, but still, not to suggest any other color but white. Now for the powder room - in here - I want you to match this thread, and don't lose it. It's the only spool I have and I had an awful time finding it! As you can see, it's practically an apple red. Somewhere between a healthy winesap and an unripened Jonathan. Oh, excuse me...
Mr. PeDelford: You got that Charlie?
Charlie, Painter: Red, green, blue, yellow, white.
Mr. PeDelford: Check.Jenny Allworthyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08518779478842699970noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8833418224175267236.post-60277233693214885962011-11-28T07:10:34.578-05:002011-11-28T07:10:34.578-05:00@Jenny-I'm very pleased you like my DVD librar...@Jenny-I'm very pleased you like my DVD library!
